Rents are rising, construction costs are exploding and complex building legislation is causing delays. New construction will not solve the housing crisis in the foreseeable future. And from an ecological point of view, this is not bad news. Huge amounts of grey energy are tied up in existing buildings. This now needs to be utilised with new housing concepts.

Frederik Fischer, founder of the creative office Neulandia, presents new concepts for communal living in rural areas.

A new interpretation of the historic garden city is currently being created in a rural community in Brandenburg: KoDorf. With the Summer of Pioneers, creative and digital workers are invited to try out living in small towns for six months and with the KoQuartier, existing buildings are consistently used and revitalised through social architecture.
