Klever Birne: Start of the application phase

Kleve’s ideas competition for sustainability, the Klever Birne, has officially begun. Together with the city of Kleve we are calling for innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

Info session as the starting signal for this year’s Klever Birne

On 30 April, interested people gathered on the Kleve campus to learn more about the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It became clear that sustainability goes far beyond environmental protection and encompasses a colourful spectrum of ecological, social and economic aspects.

Wanted: Clever ideas for a sustainable city

The jury is looking for solutions that are not only original and realistic, but also make a noticeable contribution to the city’s sustainable development. Applicants can submit their projects until 30 June 2024. The ideas submitted should touch on at least one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and be suitable for implementation in Kleve.

Together for a sustainable future

“Together, we want to become sustainable, with municipal steps such as our sustainability strategy for Kleve, which is currently being planned, and research funding from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for the TransRegINT project. Promoting sustainability is a joint task that people and municipalities around the world are facing, which is why this sustainability award represents local and international goals with concrete examples.” – Wolfgang Gebing, Mayor of Kleve.

More than just recognition

The best ideas and the idea providers will not only be rewarded with prize money (1st place €2,000, 2nd place €1,500, 3rd place €1,000, Student prize €1,000), but will also receive personalised coaching to help them successfully implement their projects.

The competition is open not only to individuals, but also to groups, companies, associations and institutions that are committed to sustainable development. You can find more details about the competition and how to register here.
