What is TransRegINT?
TransRegINT stands for Transformation of the Lower Rhine Region –innovation, sustainability, and participation (in German: Innovation, Nachhaltigkeit and Teilhabe).
TransRegINT is a project of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW) that will receive nearly €10 million in funding from January 2023 to December 2027 as part of the “Innovative University” funding initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The funding initiative is intended to support universities in translating research findings even more effectively into creative solutions for the most pressing challenges of our time.
As a university, we want this project to have a transformative effect in the region and beyond. We want to make the region and, at the same time, our students who take their knowledge into the world, fit for the future. Our vision is to become THE university for sustainable transformation.
Exchange:
We're creating a lively platform for dialogue and creative participation in sustainable development. Because dialogue promotes understanding and new ideas.
Applied research & pilot projects:
Scientific findings are the foundation for forward-looking solutions. We're contributing to the region through the applied research we conduct in our transformation projects. TransRegINT initiates and supports the implementation of hands-on, participatory pilot projects.
Competence building
By imparting knowledge and supporting the acquisition of skills, we're making ourselves fit for the future and educating people who will act as multipliers.
Our network partners
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Kisters
Project management TransRegINT, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer
With TransRegINT, we're taking responsibility by jointly developing the future of the Lower Rhine region through exchange, applied research, pilot projects and building expertise. Shaping a future worth living and loving and developing suitable solutions requires the right mindset. For us, an open mindset is the key to innovation and transformation.
The project is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. We're focused on the following six goals:
Transformation Advisory Board
The Transformation Advisory Board is an advisory body that was established in 2023. Its task is to support the TransRegINT project, which focuses on sustainable development and change in the Lower Rhine region.
The board consists of experts from academia, politics, and society. They advise the university on how to promote and implement innovation and sustainability. They also contribute important ideas and impulses to drive forward the transformation process in the region.
Dr. Barbara Hendricks, former Federal Minister for the Environment, was elected chairperson. Her deputy is District Administrator Ingo Brohl.
Further information about the project advisory board and its members can be found in the latest news article.
