Science Bench Kleve

Prof. Dr. Jens Gebauer, Florian Gaisrucker und Christoph Bors
Date: Time: 17:00 Uhr - 20:00 Uhr Loacation: Minoritenplatz, Kleve

On 22 May 2025, the city of Kleve and Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences are hosting a Science Bench.

From 17:00 to 20:00, you can take a seat on the bench, ask questions and start a dialogue about the future of the region. The bench is a symbol of dialogue at eye level – everyone is welcome to get involved. The campaign is also taking place in Kamp-Lintfort at the same time.

📍 In Kleve (benches at the water feature, Minoritenplatz) with:

  • Prof Dr Jens Gebauer, Professor of Sustainable Agricultural Production Systems, especially in Horticulture (Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences)
  • Prof Dr Florian Wichern, Professor of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences)
  • Employees of the city of Kleve who deal professionally with climate issues

Topic: Climate change and agroforestry

The talks will focus on the question and ideas relating to climate change and its impact on Kleverland. The topic of agroforestry will also feature on the Science Bench. This is because agroforestry systems, in which woody plants are combined with arable crops and/or livestock farming on one area, offer local agriculture a possible adaptation strategy to the increasingly warmer and drier summers. Professors Dr. Jens Gebauer and Dr. Florian Wichern provide information on this topic.

How can we make everyday life more environmentally friendly? What ideas are there for tackling climate change in Kleve? What solutions can improve the environment and everyday life? And how can local ideas become real solutions? It’s not just about big concepts, but also about small, practical suggestions from the population.

Why come along?

  • Have your say at eye level – no stage, no lectures
  • Topic: Sustainability & climate protection – ideas for our region

The Science Bench is a free service.
