On 27 February at 2:30 p.m., the presentation of the hydrogen excavator will be the highlight and ceremonial conclusion of the Makeathon. After days of intensive development, tinkering and testing, the result will now be presented live: a proof of concept, i.e. a functional demonstrator that shows whether an excavator drive based on hydrogen technology is fundamentally feasible and can work in practice.
The focus is on the live demonstration: the hydrogen excavator will be driven and operated under real conditions, providing a tangible example of how sustainable drive technologies can be put into practice. The project team will provide insights into the idea, implementation and technical challenges, and show what can be achieved in just five days of joint development work.
The team setup is particularly special: students and trainees work hand in hand during the makeathon to convert the excavator and jointly get the demonstrator up and running.
The Makeathon and the project are being realised in collaboration with strong partners: ITQ GmbH, Omexom, Hexagon Purus, IHK Niederrhein, the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal and MAKSMACHT.
