Klever Birne 2025: Second Chic in Kleve

Christoph Gebhardt from Très Chig Studio in Kleve wants to establish a large second-hand market in the city twice a year. With his shop for vintage and second-hand clothing, he is already making a statement against fast fashion and for sustainable consumption. In addition, he offers workshops. What already works on a small scale is now to be made accessible to more people on a larger scale. With Second Chic, he envisions a sustainable second-hand event with a supporting programme in Kleve.

New meeting place for the sharing economy in Kleve

Christoph was able to secure the Meyerhof as a partner and plans to establish the event series there in the long term. For larger events, especially in the colder months or when a large number of visitors is expected, the Kleve Town Hall could be the ideal solution, as it offers space, infrastructure and weather independence.

Twice a year, there will be markets for different target groups: one for families and children, and one for adults. The family and children’s markets will focus on children’s clothing, toys, and maternity wear, while the adult markets will sell decorative items in addition to clothing.

‘My idea promotes sustainable consumption and demonstrates that sustainability and fun can go hand in hand.’

Alongside live music and food stalls, he aims to establish a new meeting place for the sharing economy in Kleve. “Private individuals can register to sell their second-hand treasures at a stand fee. Visitors pay a small entrance fee to cover the costs of rent, organisation, the music programme and infrastructure.’

Christoph intends to use the prize money to finance the town hall rent, advertising, technology and organisation costs. ‘This will enable me to offer fair stand fees and affordable admission prices. My wish is to establish Second Chic permanently in Kleve and offer all Kleve residents attractive access to the sharing economy,’ he explains.
